Tools for the Track Inspector

The Federal Railroad Administration and ENSCO provide several tools to assist in the track inspection process.

Digital Track Notebook (DTN) - A breakthrough for railroad track inspectors: now you can carry a safety standards library, make calculations quickly, and record track inspection data on a handheld computer. DigitalTrack Notebook products use handheld computing devices and information management software to simplify track inspection processes.

Portable Track Loading Fixture (PTLF) - The Lateral Strength fixture tests the lateral strength of railroad crossties and fastening systems, providing accurate and reliable measurements.

Remote Monitor - Installed on rail cars, the Remote proactively detects and pinpoints the locations of potential track, car and cargo problems. It monitors numerous conditions such as track anomalies, ride quality and engine overheating.

Portable Ridemeter - Consisting of a laptop computer and a sensor unit with accelerometers and a Global Positioning System (GPS), the Portable RideMeter™ provides quick and easy analysis of acceleration time history, frequency spectrum, reduced comfort exposure times, GPS location, speed data and exceptions to ride safety thresholds.

Track Data Management System - Ensco's Track Data Management System ...

Automatic Track Data Alignment System (ATDAS) - Compare the results from 2 separate surveys
